SM Pop Up Store in Myeongdong [June 2013]

In the basement of the Lotte Department Store Young Plaza, SM Entertainment opened a "pop up store" to sell new SM artist merchandise on June 28th.
This is SM's 2nd pop up store and it's at least twice the size of their 1st pop up store. They opened the 1st one up in January 2013 while SNSD were promoting "I Got a Boy." This time they opened it while Exo are promoting "Wolf" and "Growl."
As you can expect, Exo had the majority of the goods. I think it's safe to say that half the store was devoted to Exo merch.
However, I believe the 1st pop up store was only open for 2... maybe 3 weeks. This pop up store has been open for 2 months. I heard that it was supposed to close on August 28th, but SM is apparently extending that to September 30, 2013.
Also unlike the 1st pop up store, SM kept introducing new Exo merch every few weeks. So fans would keep going back for the new merch.
They added a few new things for the other groups like flip flops, travel packs, oil blotting paper, nail stickers, bookmarks, etc. but it was mostly the same merch from the 1st pop up store.
Again, Fx is always the under appreciated artist at these stores. =/ They have less merch than everyone else.

    2. The staff said that this pop up store will close on September 30th. However, some of the merch will still be available at SM Everysing stores.
      Hope this helps! ^^

    1. Hi! I'm pretty sure that the store is now permanent. They've just put up an ad for SNSD's Mr. Mr. in front of the store and they wouldn't do that if it was closing anytime soon. Also, they're rumors that they're going to open up another "pop up store" at Coex Mall. =)

    1. It's in the Lotte Young Department Store in Myeongdong. However, sometime in the unknown future, there will ALSO be a pop up store at Coex. Hope this clears up any confusion! ^.^

    2. thank u. i've read your reply for the question below. im actually asking someone to buy me a dvd set and the people i've asked said it'll be available at the pop up store. anyway, she could just go in any cd store in myeongdong then? they also sell dvds there right? :))

    3. They do sell dvds, but it is a more limited selection so they might not carry the dvd box set you want. Whereas it might be guaranteed to be at the SM store. But again, there's not a big difference in price (and sometimes no difference at all for DVDs, especially if its a new release).

  4. Hey! I'm going in june. and do you think it's expensive to buy the album in pop up store or i should just buy from other store in korea?

    1. Honestly, I think cds are cheaper if you just buy them at one of the kpop shops in Myeongdong. They usually run 15,000-17,000 won (15-17 USD). Whereas in the official stores they're 20,000 won and up (20 USD+). So, it's not a huge difference in price. But the Myeongdong kpop shops do sell the cds slightly cheaper. =)

  5. Hi! Could you supply me kpop goods? :)

    1. Sorry, no. I don't have the time to search for goods and work out pricing for shipping and things. If you tell me your country, I can try and find a kpop shopping community that can?

  6. Hi, im going to korea in july this year. Do you have any other places to recommend (other than lotte young plaza n everysing myeongdong) that I can get exo goods frm? I really love exo n hope to be able to go to most of the places that sell their goods.

    1. Well, SM stores are the best places for official merchandise. If you want unofficial merchandise, there are lots of kpop shops in myeongdong, sinsa, apgujeong, etc. Personally though, Myeongdong is the place I go.

  7. Hi,
I'm going to Seoul in June ~ Will the pop up store be open then?
Also, do you know any specific shops that sells SNSD fansite photobooks? Pls answer!
    Thanks~

    1. Hi! Yes, the Everysing stores are closing but the Pop Up store will remain open. For fansite photobooks, there's a Kpop shop in the Myeongdong subway station that has a lot of fansite goods. When you go up the stairs from the train platform, you will see a bunch of shops inside the station. At the end of the hall is a kpop shop and they have a shelf full of photobooks. There are a couple of other kpop stores inside the Myeongdong subway station, so you can stop and take a look in those as well. But the one at the back is the best, in my opinion. Hope this helps!

  8. Hi,
I've read your replies to the comments above and I would like to ask you a few questions:

    1. Can I check with you that the remaining SM Pop Up stores/ Everysing stores that are still in business are the ones at COEX mall, at Lotte Young Plaza, and at Incheon International Airport? Are there any others that I did not list here? and do you think they will still be open at the end of July?

    2. Regarding your above comment on the fansite goods store at Myeongdong subway station, I would like to know if they sell official fansite goods/ photobooks? and are the prices of these goods about the same as if I buy them from their official fansites online, or are they sold at a slightly steeper price in the stores here? do you happen to have the name of the fansite goods store that you recommended? and lastly, I'm looking to purchase some EXO and SHINee fansite goods and photobooks, so I want to know if there is a wide range of selection at the store?

Sorry to ask so many questions. Looking forward to your reply soon.
    Thanks!

    1. Hi!
      1. Yes, those are the only locations that I know of as well.
The Lotte Plaza one will definitely be open. I can't be positive about the other locations, but you a good chance that they'll still be open.

      2. In the Myeongdong subway station, it's not a fansite goods store. It's just a regular Kpop goods store where they sell both official (cds, dvds, concert goods, etc) & unofficial goods (photocards, calendars, key chains, etc.)

Yes, they sell official fansite photobooks. They are MORE expensive at the store than ordering from the fansite itself. Official goods like cds & dvds are usually LESS expensive.

      I do not know the name of the store. There is no name advertised on the outside. Everyone just knows where it is. Sorry ^^;;

There seemed to be quite a few EXO fansite photobooks, but I'm not sure about Shinee. I don't know what your idea of a "wide selection" is, so it's hard for me to answer that. They do have the largest supply of fansite goods I've seen at any kpop store, but that doesn't mean that they'll have all the fansite photobooks that you are looking for.
Kpop stores don't generally keep fansite goods in stock. They might only have so many of a product (this is also true for concert goods), and once they're sold out it's unlikely that they'll get more in.
That being said, they do have many fansite photobooks for sale.
      Hope this helps!

    2. Hi,
Thanks for your prompt reply. It would really help me when I go to Korea!

I'm just wondering if you know of any other places that sell both official and unofficial kpop goods at low prices? and also, for CDs and DVDs, is it better to get it from larger CD shops like Synnara or any street shops will do?

      Thanks!

    3. For DVDs, there's no difference in price between the chain stores and street shops in my experience. However, cds are usually cheaper by about 3-4 dollars in street shops. I do not know of any other specific kpop stores, but if you walk around tourist areas, your bound to find some sort of kpop shop.
      Happy hunting~! ^^

    1. The SM Pop Up Store. Regular kpop stores will usually sell unofficial photocards.

  10. Hi,

I would like to ask. I am going to Seoul in November. Will the pop-up stores still open? What do you mean by the Everysing stores will close? All the everysing stores have close or only a few.

    Replies
    1. Only a few. The Everysing in Myeongdong and Apgujeong have closed. The airport Everysings are still open. I haven't checked, but the Coex Everysing might still be open. However, SM are planning on opening up a Pop Up Store in Coex, so that Everysing will eventually close. The Myeongdong Pop Up Store will still be open. ^^

    2. No, it won't D: I went there today no realising that closing their stores all willy nilly was THING they even did, only discover the place was totally cleared out (July 6th 2014)...wtf tbh!

How is anyone meant to buy their stuff if they can't just open a freaking store and LEAVE it open >_<" Seriously though Myeongdong was BOUND to have brought in tons of money in for them considering the sheer customer traffic in the place, why would they close it?? It's not like they didn't seem to spend a lot of money doing the place up in the first place too - they have the great big everysing sign outside and everything. It didn't LOOK temporary...?? Sigh =( Now to figure out where the fudge to actually go to be able to find and buy stuff from there >_<

  11. NO WAIT. I misread - I thought you said the EVERYSING in Myeongdong would definitely be open, not the pop up store OTL Sorry x_x XD
